Helena will be talking to us about her new book, The Year of Facing Fire ~ a brilliant memoir which follows her journey as a writer (for the hit movie, Kama Sutra) and her family’s struggle when her beloved Brother, Evan, is diagnosed with HIV/Aids.
Nominated for playwright of the year, Helena has written extensively for television and even won the Steven Spielberg award which set her up to be an A-list writer in Hollywood.
Although Helena regards South Africa as her home, she spends her time between Los Angeles and SA, as she teaches screenwriting at Spalding University’s MFA in the Writing Program and takes writers and seekers on creative journeys into India.
Helena is also deeply committed to animals and is the founder and president of Baby Rhino Rescue, an international non-profit organisation dedicated to saving rhinos from extinction.
